Professional Athletes and Contracts
When a professional athlete has a good year he almost always wants to renegotiate his contract with the team and get more money, even though there's a signed contract involved. An athelete signs a contract for 5 years, he has a good year or two, and then the contract has to be renegotiated in favor of the athlete. If the athlete has a bad 2 years, the contract is never renegotiated downward.

Let's take a look at the Bears. Brian Urlacher, who I think is a darn good linebacker, just got a 8 million dollar raise eventhough he was in the middle of a signed contract. The Bears didn't make the playoffs last yeaar. Mr. Urlacher did not have a great year last year. Yet, he renegotiated his contract and got a raise!

Devon Hester did not report to training camp because he wants more money. Eventhough he has a signed contract with the Bears. Now don't get me wrong. Hester is the greatest thing since sliced bread as far as the Bears are concerned. But he is in the middle of a signed contract with the Bears. That contract should be honored. When the contract is over, then you renegotiate and get more money. Holding the Bears over the barrel translates into holding Bears' fans over the barrel. Where do you think all that money comes from? Bears fans! That's where!

I am sick and tired of atheletes who have a good year or two (or even not so good a year (Urlacher)) and then hold their team and fans at ransom in the middle of their signed contract, and squeeze more money from the already tight pocketbooks of their fans. (The athelete may think the money comes just from the owners, but guess where the owners get their money from geniuses? The fans!)

Live up to your commitments like everybody else. If you sign a contract, live with it. When its over, then renegotiate! You're just screwing over the fans, you know. Don't you?

Tolerance
Tolerance. In other words lighten up would ya! There's a guy in Afganhistan that converted to Christianity a while ago and now that the Muslims found out about him they want to execute him. That is not tolerance. That is not lightening up! And these aren't the Taliban or the al Qaeda guys calling for his execution. These are your "normal", "average", "everyday citizens" of Afganhistan calling for his execution. The United States was founded by people fleeing religious persecution. And now every god under the sun is represented here! People got a lot of nerve calling us the "godless America"! We have them all. And, for the most part, we don't have any friction between factions. I know a lot of people and I don't know what religion they follow. Who their god is is up to them. As long as they're nice people, I like them. And this should go to all areas and aspects of life. I don't care if you're a Repulican, Democrat, Independent or whatever. You vote for that guy. I vote for this guy. Somebody wins, somebody losses. And the great thing about America is, life goes on! The world doesn't crumble and fall apart. Everybody pats everybody on the back, we get working again and we get living again. That's what freedom is all about. So, everybody out there, lighten up!

Jails should be more like Jails
Jails should be more like jails. If it wasn't for prisoners making jails a living hell, all that would be bad about going to jail was the inconvenience associated with having to stay there for the term of your sentence. You'e got free health care, a health club, free meals, libraries where you can continue your education and get a college degree, again free. Conjugal visits, start a family, fall in love with a gaurd or your lawyer, more conjugal visits. Phone calls, visits from family and friends, and so forth. But you have to stay there couped up with your fellow lawbreakers. But that turns out also to be a plus. While there, convicts can also hone their craft and learn from each other. Kind of like a big convention where educational seminars are offered in all areas of illegal activities. Then you got the violent criminals including murderers whose victims don't have anything to look forward to because they're dead. Their most precious gift, their life, taken away from them by some idiot who now gets to go to college, fall in love and start a family, all at tax payers expense and all while their victims are rotting in their graves! Jails should be more like jails.
