Burgundy Bistro
Burgundy Bistro is located in Olympia Square Shopping Center at the southeast corner of Governors Highway and Vollmer Road. They opened their doors in November of 1993. They started out as a single space, squeezing in 10 tables plus a full size bar seating 12. Since the restaurant was so small, it was all non-smoking. When they expanded in 1996 they tripled the numbers of tables to 30 and were able to have seperate smoking and non-smoking sections. The last expansion took place in 2002 when they added a banquet room that seats 100 people.
From the beginning the food leaned more toward French, but today the food leans more towards American with French influences. There's also a lot of New Orleans' style food on the menu like Jambalaya, New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp, Crab Cakes, Blackened Steaks, Chops and Fish. Burgundy Bistro makes fresh bread rolls twice a day, one for lunch and the other for dinner. They also make a lot of their own desserts including the ice creams, Tart Tatin (apple pie), chocolate mousse, flourless chocolate cake, carrot cake, bread pudding and sorbets. Plus, every now and then they make their own giant ravioli stuffed with a variety of interesting combinations like, lobster and crab, or potato and arugala, or mushroom, ham, onion, potato, cheddar, or, well the list goes on. You will still find old favorites like quiches, crepes, the vegetable lasagna, and a multitude of salads and appetizers. And there's always 5 or 6 different specials of the day to make things even more interesting!
